Baltimore Police Department Salutes Officer Released From Hospital After Being Shot

It was a happy reunion for the Baltimore Police Department on Monday afternoon, as all hands were on deck to salute an officer who was released from the hospital after being shot in the line of duty.

On Monday, Oct. 3, members of the department, Johns Hopkins Hospital staff, family, and friends were there to celebrate as the officer was discharged after being shot during an incident on Friday, Sept. 30 on East Chase Street.

“We saluted the officer as he was discharged from the hospital and we continue to pray for him and his family as he begins his road to recovery,” the department posted on social media.

The officer was shot at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 30 in the 1100 block of East Chase Street when police were called to intervene as a man allegedly violated a protective order.

During a struggle as police attempted to apprehend him, the suspect shot the officer in the leg. The names of the officer involved and the shooter have not been released by investigators.
